How to Set Up a Clean Building Environment with /tk devenv

Turning on the dev environment

Run /tk devenv true to switch your world into a clean building state. This sets the doDaylightCycle, doMobSpawning, and doWeatherCycle game rules to false, locks the time to a fixed point, and clears the weather. The result is a stable, distraction-free space for building, testing structures, or taking screenshots.

With daylight and weather cycles frozen, the lighting and sky stay consistent, and with mob spawning off you will not be interrupted by hostile mobs while you work.

Turning it back off

Run /tk devenv false to restore normal behavior. This sets the same three game rules back to true, so day and night resume, weather can change again, and mobs spawn as usual.

When to use it

  • Building large structures where you want steady lighting.
  • Testing redstone or command contraptions without mob interference.
  • Recording or streaming, where a fixed time and clear sky look better.

Remember that this changes world game rules, so on a shared server it affects everyone until you turn it back off. Toggle it on when you start a session and off when you are done.
