How to Copy an Item's Registry Name and NBT with /tk hand
Grabbing the data for one held item
Hold the item or block you want to inspect in your main hand, then run /tk hand. The command prints the item's registry name together with its full NBT data in chat and also copies that same text to your clipboard, so you can paste it straight into a command block, a data pack file, or a config.
If you only want to read the data without touching your clipboard, run /tk hand nocopy. This prints the registry name and NBT to chat but leaves whatever you had copied before untouched. That is handy when you are mid-build and do not want to lose a piece of text you already copied.
When to use each form
- Use
/tk handwhen you are about to paste the result somewhere else, like an/givecommand or a loot table entry. - Use
/tk hand nocopywhen you just want a quick readout, for example to check which variant of a block you are holding.
The output includes the registry name (the internal ID the game uses) plus any NBT tags attached to the stack, such as enchantments, custom names, or block states stored as item data. This makes it the fastest way to get exact data for a single item without digging through files.
