Getting Started with the Camera

The Camera Obscura item works like a spyglass—hold it, aim at your subject, and activate it to capture a photo. The camera consumes a map (or configured item) from your inventory each time you take a shot, so stock up before you start.

Steps to Capture and Receive a Map

1. Ensure you have the Camera Obscura item in your inventory

2. Have at least one map (or the configured consumable item) in your inventory

3. Hold the camera and look at the scene you want to photograph

4. Activate the camera (right-click by default)

5. The photo is instantly rendered server-side and given to you as a map item

6. Check your inventory—the map now contains your photograph

Tips

You can display these map items in item frames on walls to create instant map art. The map resolution depends on your mod configuration, but maps provide a quick, shareable way to preserve moments. If you want higher resolution or a PNG file instead, use the save command instead.
