Repair Your Shield Without Losing Enchantments

Using the Anvil Method

When your shield takes damage, don't craft a new one—repair it at an anvil instead. Place your damaged shield in the left slot and the matching base material (gold ingot, copper ingot, iron ingot, diamond, or netherite ingot) in the right slot. The anvil will restore durability while preserving any banner patterns or enchantments you've applied.

Why This Matters

Repairing is far more efficient than crafting fresh shields, especially for high-tier shields that require significant resources. You'll save materials and keep your custom-decorated shields intact.

Durability Mechanics

Remember that blocking only costs one durability point per hit in this data pack, making shields much more sustainable than vanilla Minecraft. This means your shield will last significantly longer before needing repairs, even in extended combat.

Planning Ahead

Stock up on repair materials as you progress. Keep a stack of ingots or gems in your base so you can quickly restore your shield between adventures without returning to a crafting table.
