ThreatenGL Mod: How It Changes Minecraft's OpenGL Version

What ThreatenGL Does

ThreatenGL is a small, single-purpose mod that changes which OpenGL version Minecraft uses. Instead of the older version the game normally relies on, the mod forces it to use OpenGL 4.6. The goal is better performance: smoother gameplay and higher frame rates, particularly on newer devices whose GPUs can take advantage of the newer API. The mod also tweaks the game's graphics settings so it can make use of modern OpenGL features.

Hardware and Platform Limits

This only works if your hardware actually supports OpenGL 4.6. If your GPU does not, the mod cannot deliver the intended benefit. On macOS, the mod forces OpenGL 4.1 instead, because the system does not allow the newer version. So the version you end up with depends on your platform and GPU. There are no items, recipes, or in-game content to learn; the mod simply changes how the game talks to your graphics hardware.
