Why Thermoo Alone Changes Nothing (and How to Get Actual Temperature Gameplay)

The single most common confusion with Thermoo is installing it and seeing zero difference in-game. That is expected: Thermoo is a technical library, not a content mod. It provides the framework — temperature and wetness components, datapack-driven environmental temperature, and effect hooks — but it deliberately adds no items, no HUD, and no survival mechanics of its own.

What Thermoo actually provides

It gives other mods a shared way to ask "how hot or cold is this entity right now?" and to define biome/environment temperature through datapacks. It also handles unit conversion so a mod can work in Celsius or Fahrenheit without hardcoding either.

What you need to do

To get gameplay, install one or more mods that depend on Thermoo — typically survival or seasons-style mods that add freezing, overheating, insulation gear, or wetness penalties. Thermoo will already be present as their dependency; you don't configure it directly.

If you want to build your own mechanics, Thermoo exposes an API and datapack hooks so you can define environment temperature sources and attach temperature effects without writing a full mod from scratch. Check the mod's documentation for the datapack schema before authoring files.
