Troubleshoot Missing or Incorrect Rain Sounds

Verify the Mod is Active

First, confirm the Sound of Rain Mod is loaded. Open your mods list in-game and search for it. If it appears and shows as enabled, the mod is active. Launch a world with rain and listen carefully—you should hear distinct material-specific sounds rather than the vanilla storm loop.

Check Your Audio Settings

Ensure your game volume isn't muted and that the "Weather" sound slider in Minecraft's audio settings is turned up. The Sound of Rain Mod respects these vanilla volume controls. If weather sounds are at zero, you won't hear any rain audio.

Inspect Block Compatibility

Not all blocks may have custom sounds assigned. The mod prioritizes common materials like wood, glass, and metal. If you're standing under an unsupported block type, it may fall back to default rain audio or play nothing. Check the mod's documentation to see which blocks are fully supported.

Reload Your World

If sounds suddenly stop working mid-session, exit to the main menu and rejoin. This forces the mod to reinitialize its audio system. If problems persist, verify your config file hasn't been corrupted and contains valid sound file paths.
