Secret Location Patterns

The Backrooms hides optional areas throughout its 24 levels. These secrets reward thorough exploration with unique encounters, lore details, and sometimes progression shortcuts.

Search Methodology

Examine every wall carefully. Secrets often hide behind false walls, cracked textures, or subtle architectural inconsistencies. Look for walls that appear slightly different from their surroundings.

Test suspicious blocks. Interact with unusual-looking surfaces—they may be hidden doors or pressure plates. Right-click on suspicious areas and listen for mechanical sounds.

Explore vertical spaces. Check ceilings and floors thoroughly. Secret passages sometimes lead upward or downward rather than horizontally.

Follow audio anomalies. Strange sounds, whispers, or distorted music often emanate from secret areas. Use audio cues to pinpoint hidden locations.

Document room layouts. Sketch or mentally map each level. Rooms that seem disproportionately small or have unusual dimensions often conceal hidden chambers.

Return with new knowledge. Early levels may contain secrets only accessible after obtaining items or knowledge from later levels. Revisit areas as you progress.

Look for lore clues. Written messages, symbols, or environmental storytelling hints at secret locations and their significance to the Backrooms narrative.
