Handle Missing Language Textures with Fallbacks

Understanding Fallback Behavior

The Texture Locale Redirector Mod automatically handles cases where a texture doesn't exist for the player's current language. You don't need to create textures for every language—the mod will intelligently fall back to defaults.

Setting Up Fallback Textures

Always include a complete set of textures in your root assets/<namespace>/textures/ directory. These serve as the default fallback when:

  • A player uses a language that doesn't have a dedicated texture folder
  • A specific texture file is missing from a language folder
  • The language folder exists but is incomplete

For example, if you have textures for Chinese and Japanese but a player uses German, they'll see the default textures from the root directory.

Best Practice

Create your resource pack with English (or your primary language) textures in the root textures/ folder first. Then create language-specific folders only for languages where textures differ. This minimizes file duplication and keeps your resource pack lean while ensuring all players see appropriate content.
