Manage Map Tile Cache and Storage

Understanding the Cache

As you explore, Terrarium downloads map tiles and stores them locally in your cache directory. This speeds up loading when you revisit areas and reduces server requests.

Locating Your Cache

The default cache directory is specified in the mod's configuration file. You can change it by editing the CACHE_DIR setting to point to a custom folder on your computer.

Clearing and Maintaining Cache

If your cache grows too large or you want to free up space:

  • Navigate to your cache directory
  • Delete tile files you no longer need (organized by region)
  • The mod will re-download tiles if you revisit those areas

Storage Planning

Large zoom levels and extensive exploration generate significant cache data. Monitor your cache folder size periodically. If storage is limited, consider using a smaller zoom level or clearing old tiles from regions you've finished exploring.
