Optimize Performance with Distant Horizons

Install Distant Horizons Compatibility

Ensure Distant Horizons is installed alongside Tellus Mod. The two mods are designed to work together seamlessly.

Enable Distant Horizons Rendering

In your video settings, enable Distant Horizons. This allows the mod to render terrain far beyond your normal render distance without significantly impacting performance.

Adjust Render Distance

Set your regular render distance to a moderate level (8-12 chunks). Distant Horizons will handle rendering mountains and oceans in the far distance, preventing lag from loading too many chunks at once.

Configure LOD Levels

Distant Horizons uses Level of Detail (LOD) rendering. Terrain far away is displayed at lower detail, while nearby terrain remains fully detailed. Adjust LOD settings in the Distant Horizons configuration to balance visual quality and performance.

Monitor Frame Rate

Watch your FPS while exploring. If performance drops, reduce your render distance or lower Distant Horizons' quality settings. The combination of real-world terrain streaming and distant rendering can be demanding.

Best for Exploration

This setup works best for sightseeing and exploration rather than intensive building or mining.
