Locate Safe Building Zones Before Establishing Your Base

Map Your Surroundings

Before committing resources to a base location, use the mod's mapping system to identify stable ground away from tectonic hazards.

Steps:

1. Craft or obtain a map item

2. Hold the map in your main hand

3. Type /endisaster tectonicmap into chat

4. Your map will now display tectonic plate boundaries and active fault zones as colored or marked lines

5. Study the map carefully—areas far from fault lines and plate boundaries are safer for long-term builds

6. Look for regions with no visible disaster zones marked on the map

Plan Around Danger Zones

Once you've identified fault lines and plate boundaries, avoid building directly on or immediately adjacent to these marked areas. Earthquakes and volcanic activity concentrate along these zones. Choose elevated terrain or areas completely clear of markings for your main base. If you must build near a marked zone, construct with reinforced materials and plan escape routes. Keep the mapped information in mind when planning mining operations—avoid digging toward marked fault lines where sinkholes are more likely to occur.
