Use Damage Indicators to Navigate Chaotic Firefights

Reading Damage Direction Arrows

When you take damage, arrows appear on your screen's edges pointing toward the source of the attack. These directional indicators help you instantly understand where threats are coming from without turning to look.

Prioritizing Threats

Multiple arrows may appear simultaneously during group combat. Focus on the most frequent or intense arrows first—these indicate your primary threat. Arrows from different directions show you're under fire from multiple enemies.

Combining with Other Cues

Use damage indicators alongside screen shake and suppression effects. Heavy shake combined with arrows pointing in one direction means an enemy is close and firing repeatedly. Lighter effects with distant arrows suggest threats from far away.

Tactical Positioning

Arrows guide you toward cover. If arrows consistently point from one direction, move perpendicular or backward to break line of sight with that enemy. This prevents tunnel vision and helps you maintain spatial awareness.

Distinguishing Damage Types

The intensity and appearance of arrows may vary based on damage source—bullets versus explosions, for example. Learn these visual differences to quickly assess whether you're facing gunfire, grenades, or other hazards.

Staying Mobile

Don't rely solely on indicators. Keep moving and checking your surroundings, as arrows only show where damage came from, not where enemies currently are.
