Troubleshoot Ghosting or Motion Artifacts
Identifying Ghosting
Ghosting appears as blurred or doubled edges that lag slightly behind your camera movement. This is a common TAA side effect when settings are too aggressive. It's most noticeable when turning quickly or looking at moving entities.
Reducing TAA Intensity
Open Shader Options and lower the TAA strength, jitter amount, or history blend value if these settings exist. Reducing these values trades some smoothness for cleaner motion. Start by reducing by 10-20% and test camera movement.
Adjusting Frame Rate
TAA performs better at higher, more stable frame rates. If your FPS fluctuates, ghosting becomes more apparent. Lock your frame rate to your monitor's refresh rate using V-Sync or a frame limiter to stabilize TAA's temporal calculations.
Last Resort
If ghosting remains problematic after adjustments, temporarily disable TAA and verify the issue disappears. This confirms TAA is the cause. You can then decide whether to accept minor ghosting for edge smoothing, or prioritize motion clarity by disabling the effect.
