Set up tool priorities for mining efficiency

Configure your tool order

Switcheroo Mod chooses the best tool based on what will break a block fastest. To optimize your mining:

1. Open your inventory and locate the Switcheroo configuration screen (usually accessible via mod menu or keybind)

2. Review the tool priority list — this determines which tool the mod considers "best" for each block type

3. Arrange your hotbar so your most-used tools are easily accessible; the mod will still auto-switch, but you control what's available

4. Test by clicking different blocks: stone, dirt, wood, and ore. Watch which tool activates

Hotbar placement strategy

Place tools you want to use in slots 1-9. The mod will switch to whichever tool mines the current block fastest, regardless of slot position. However, keeping your pickaxe, axe, and shovel in your hotbar ensures the mod always has options to choose from.

If a block type has no suitable tool in your hotbar, the mod will either use your current item or do nothing — so always carry the basics for varied terrain.

Disable switching when needed

Hold Sneak (default Shift) while clicking to prevent auto-switching. This is useful when you want to keep a specific tool active for building or precise work.
