Suren’s Sophisticated Storage Resource Pack FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

What does Suren's Sophisticated Storage Resource Pack actually change?
It only replaces the textures for the chests and storage blocks added by the Sophisticated Storage mod, giving them cleaner lines, smoother shading, and a more polished look. It does not add new blocks, items, or functionality — everything stays the same gameplay-wise.
Do I need the Sophisticated Storage mod installed for this pack to work?
Yes. The pack only retextures blocks from Sophisticated Storage, so without that mod installed you won't see any of the changed textures in-game. Install the mod first, then apply the resource pack.
How do I make the pack actually show up on my chests?
After enabling the pack in your resource pack list, make sure it sits above any other packs that also touch chest textures. If another pack overrides the same files, its textures will win and Suren's won't appear.
Why do my chests still look like the default Sophisticated Storage textures?
The most common cause is pack order — another resource pack is loading after Suren's and overwriting the same files. Drag Suren's pack to the top of your active packs list and reload with F3+T.
Can I use this pack together with vanilla-style or other mod resource packs?
Yes, as long as those packs don't also retexture Sophisticated Storage chests. Packs that only change vanilla blocks, GUI, or unrelated mods won't conflict, and you can stack them freely.
Will this pack hurt my FPS or performance?
No. It's a texture-only pack, so the impact is negligible — the same number of blocks are being rendered, just with different images. Any performance change you notice is almost certainly from something else.
Does the pack work on servers or in multiplayer?
Resource packs are client-side, so you can use it on any server without the server owner installing anything. Other players won't see the textures unless they also have the pack enabled.
How can I tell if a chest texture is from Suren's pack or the base mod?
Toggle the pack off and on while looking at the same chest — Suren's version has cleaner outlines and softer shading compared to the base mod's textures. Comparing side by side in the same world is the quickest way to spot the difference.
Can I edit or combine Suren's textures with my own?
Yes, you can open the pack's zip and swap or edit the PNG files for the chest textures, then repackage it. Just keep the same file paths and names so the game still finds them.
Does the pack change the chest GUI or the storage interface?
No, it only affects the block textures in the world, not the inventory or storage screen you open when you click a chest. If you want a matching GUI, you'd need a separate pack that covers those files.
