Find Ocean Trenches and Deep Underwater Canyons
Spot depth changes from the surface
Ocean trenches appear as noticeably darker patches of water when viewed from above or from a boat. The mod darkens water based on how far the ocean floor drops below the surface, so sudden color shifts reveal hidden geography.
Steps:
1. Travel across an ocean biome and watch for abrupt color changes in the water
2. Darker blue indicates deeper water; lighter shades show shallow areas
3. Look for circular or linear dark patches—these often mark trenches and canyons
4. Dive down to confirm the terrain matches the color gradient you saw from above
Use color transitions to navigate
The mod blends colors smoothly across steep underwater cliffs, so you can trace the edges of drop-offs without needing a depth meter. This makes it easy to find underwater caves, ravines, and natural formations that would otherwise be invisible.
If color transitions seem too harsh or blend too gradually, adjust the Smooth Edges and Smoothing Radius settings to match your preference.
