Use Moon Phases for Navigation and Timing
Navigating by Moon Phases
The detailed moon phases in this pack can serve practical purposes beyond aesthetics. Since phases cycle predictably, you can use them as a natural calendar.
Tracking Time Progression
The moon completes a full cycle every 20 in-game days. By observing which phase appears:
- Plan long projects around specific lunar dates
- Coordinate multiplayer activities ("meet when the moon is full")
- Track seasonal events or farm cycles
- Create in-game calendars based on lunar phases
Practical Applications
Use moon phases to:
- Mark important dates in your world's history
- Time breeding cycles for animals
- Schedule mining expeditions or building projects
- Create atmospheric roleplay scenarios
Checking Current Phase
While the pack doesn't add a moon phase display, you can:
- Look up at night to visually identify the current phase
- Use the
/time query daycommand to calculate which phase should be visible - Create a reference guide by screenshotting each phase and noting the corresponding in-game day
This creates an immersive way to experience time passage without relying on external tools.
