Customizing How Each Player's Name Looks in the List

Why Name Formatting Matters

The player list is often the first place strangers look to understand your server's structure. Formatting names lets you show rank, team, or status directly next to each player without any chat message.

Setting Up the Name Format

1. Open the server's config for the mod.

2. Find the section that defines the display format for player entries. This is where you decide what appears around or before a name.

3. Build your format using placeholders for the player's name plus any prefix/suffix you want shown. The exact placeholder syntax is defined in the config comments — read them before editing.

4. If your server uses a permissions or ranks plugin, point the prefix/suffix placeholders at that plugin's data so ranks update automatically instead of being typed by hand.

5. Save the config and restart.

Checking It Renders Correctly

Have players of different ranks join and open the TAB menu. Verify that prefixes line up, that long names are not truncated, and that colour codes apply to the prefix but not accidentally to the whole name. Fix spacing in the format string rather than adding extra spaces to rank names.
