How to Stop Structures From Overlapping in Structure Essentials
Why Overlaps Happen
When you run many structure-adding mods together, each one places its structures independently. Two mods can both decide the same chunk is a great spot for a dungeon, a village, or a temple, and you end up with buildings clipping into each other. Structure Essentials adds a spacing layer that all registered structures respect, which fixes most of this.
Setting a Minimum Distance
Open the Structure Essentials config file. Look for the option that controls minimum distance between structures. Raising this value forces the mod to reject placements that would sit too close to an existing structure.
- Start with a modest increase and load a fresh world to test.
- Use
/locate structure <id>repeatedly to sample where structures land. - If structures feel too sparse, lower the value slightly.
You can also adjust global spacing, which affects every structure at once rather than per-structure. This is the fastest way to declutter a modpack where dozens of structure mods are fighting for the same terrain. Because these changes affect world generation, they only apply to newly generated chunks — existing terrain keeps whatever it already has.
