How to Add Structory to an Existing World Without Breaking It

How Data Packs Apply to Old Worlds

Data packs that add world generation, like Structory, only affect chunks that generate after the pack is enabled. Your existing terrain stays exactly as it is. This means you can safely add it to a long-running world without corrupting anything — you just won't see structures in areas you've already explored.

Steps to Enable It Safely

1. Back up your world folder before making any changes. This is always the first step with world-gen modifications.

2. Place the data pack in the correct data packs folder for your world, then enable it through the world creation or data pack menu.

3. Reload the world. Existing chunks are untouched; new chunks will use the updated generation.

4. Travel beyond your previously explored radius. Structures appear only in freshly generated terrain.

5. If you want structures closer to home, consider starting a new world or exploring in a direction you've never traveled.

Things to Watch For

Avoid removing the pack later if you've come to rely on its structures, since already-generated builds will remain but new ones will stop appearing. Keep the pack enabled for consistent generation.
