Using Snowballs to Kite and Control Mobs
Slowing Down Hostile Mobs
Snowballs are now effective crowd control tools. When you hit any mob with a snowball, it receives a slowness effect, making it move significantly slower for a short duration. This is especially useful when you're outnumbered or need to create distance.
Kiting Strategy
1. Keep your distance from the mob while it approaches
2. Throw snowballs to apply slowness
3. Back away while the mob moves slowly toward you
4. Repeat until the mob is far enough away or defeated
This technique works on all hostile mobs, including skeletons, zombies, spiders, and creepers. The slowness effect resets each time you land a hit, so continuous throwing maintains the debuff.
Combat Tips
Snowballs are stackable and easy to collect from snow layers, making them a renewable resource. Combine snowball kiting with melee attacks or ranged weapons for maximum effectiveness. The slowness effect gives you time to land critical hits or escape dangerous situations. This is particularly valuable in early game when you lack better armor or weapons.
