Defeating Blazes and Magma Cubes with Snowballs

Why Snowballs Work Against Fire Mobs

Blazes and Magma Cubes are immune to most damage sources, but snowballs bypass their fire resistance and deal direct damage. This makes snowballs one of the few ranged options for fighting these mobs without specialized equipment.

Fighting Blazes

1. Keep moving to avoid their fireballs

2. Throw snowballs rapidly at the Blaze

3. Use cover (pillars, walls) to block incoming attacks

4. Combine snowballs with melee attacks when close enough

The slowness effect also helps you maintain distance and dodge their projectiles more easily.

Fighting Magma Cubes

Magma Cubes split into smaller cubes when defeated, so focus fire on one at a time. Snowballs damage all sizes, making them effective throughout the fight. The slowness debuff prevents the cubes from jumping away as quickly.

Resource Efficiency

Snowballs are cheap to produce compared to other ammunition. Collect snow from snowy biomes or craft from snowballs directly, making this a sustainable approach for Nether exploration and farming.
