Navigate and Travel Along River Currents

Using the Current to Your Advantage

Rivers in this mod flow naturally toward the ocean, creating a current that pushes boats, items, and even you downstream. Use this to your advantage for fast travel across your world.

Getting Started:

1. Build or find a boat and place it in any river or stream

2. Sit in the boat and let the current carry you—no paddling needed

3. The water will naturally push you toward the nearest ocean

4. Watch your surroundings as you float; rivers follow terrain and may split or merge

Fighting the Current

You can travel upstream if needed, though it requires effort:

  • Paddle your boat against the flow to move upriver
  • The current slows you down but won't prevent movement
  • For steep waterfalls, boats can climb small cascades without sinking, allowing you to navigate vertical terrain
  • On foot, you can wade through shallow water against the current, though you'll move slower

Tips

Use rivers as natural highways between biomes. Items dropped in water will float downstream automatically, making rivers useful for item transport systems. Plan your base location near a river for easy access to flowing water and ocean routes.
