Create a Damage Floor in Your Base
Designing Safe Walkways
Stonecutters damage any creature that steps on them, so you'll need to plan your base layout carefully to avoid accidentally hurting yourself or tamed animals.
Planning Your Layout
1. Identify restricted zones — Decide which areas should have stonecutter floors (mob spawning chambers, trap rooms)
2. Create safe pathways — Use regular blocks, slabs, or stairs in areas where you walk frequently
3. Mark danger areas clearly — Use visual cues like different colored blocks or signs to remind yourself where stonecutters are placed
4. Test movement — Walk through your base to confirm you can navigate without stepping on stonecutters
Practical Applications
Stonecutter floors work well in:
- Mob grinders — Damage mobs as they fall or move through collection areas
- Isolated trap chambers — Rooms you only enter when necessary, fully prepared
- Perimeter defenses — Outer rings around your base where you rarely walk
Avoid placing stonecutters in main corridors, farms, or areas where you keep animals. The half-heart damage per step adds up quickly, so even brief exposure can be dangerous.
