Using the Unicode and Emote Picker for Chat, Signs, and Books

Opening the Picker

Stendhal adds a quick access bar of unicode characters whenever you open the chat. Click a character in the bar to insert it into your message. For books and signs, the same picker is available inside the editing screen, so you can drop symbols, arrows, and emotes directly into your text.

Choosing Characters

Scroll or page through the picker to browse the full set of unicode glyphs the in-game font supports. Not every unicode codepoint renders in Minecraft, so stick to what the picker offers rather than pasting arbitrary symbols. Clicking a glyph inserts it at the cursor position in chat, a book page, or a sign line.

Where It Works

  • Chat: the bar appears automatically when the chat box opens.
  • Books and Book & Quill: the picker is part of the reworked editing screen.
  • Signs: available while editing sign text.
  • Anvils: you can use these unicode characters to customize nametags when renaming items.

Tips

Mix unicode with legacy color codes to make signs and nametags stand out. Keep lines short on signs, since unicode glyphs can be wider than normal letters and may overflow the sign's limited space.
