How to Import and Export Books and Signs to Disk in Stendhal Mod
Exporting a Book or Sign
Open the Book & Quill, a written Book, or a Sign edit screen. Stendhal adds buttons to the vanilla GUI for saving the current content to disk. Click the export button and the mod writes the text out as a file you can keep, share, or back up. This works for both books and signs, so you can preserve a whole library of in-game writing outside Minecraft.
Importing Content Back In
When you want to load saved text, open the same screen and use the import button. Pick the file you exported earlier and its contents are placed into the book or sign you are editing. This is the fastest way to move text between worlds, copy a book onto multiple signs, or restore something you accidentally cleared.
Practical Tips
- Export before clearing a page or book, since the clear action is one click and irreversible.
- Use import to duplicate a finished book onto several copies without retyping.
- Keep exported files somewhere you can find them; the mod does not manage a library for you.
- Imported text keeps its formatting, including legacy color codes, so signs and books look the same after a round trip.
