Customizing Nametags with Unicode Characters in the Anvil
Why Use the Anvil
Stendhal reworks the Anvil screen and lets you insert unicode characters into the name field. That means you can give renamed items, and nametags applied to mobs, decorative symbols and emotes using the same vanilla font glyphs the mod supports elsewhere.
Renaming an Item
1. Place the item you want to rename in the Anvil's first slot and the required material in the second.
2. Open the unicode picker from the reworked Anvil screen.
3. Click a glyph to insert it into the name field, then type any normal text around it.
4. Take the renamed item from the output slot.
Applying to Mobs
Use a name tag the same way: rename it in the Anvil with your chosen unicode, then use it on a mob. The mob keeps the styled name, which is handy for labeling pets, villagers, or display creatures.
Tips
- Combine unicode with legacy color codes for colored, symbol-decorated names.
- Keep names reasonably short so they display cleanly above the item or mob.
- If a glyph does not appear, it is not supported by the in-game font; pick a different one from the picker.
- Test the name on a throwaway item first if you are unsure how it will look.
