Starter Kit Mod Guide: Setup and Configuration
Giving New Players a Custom Starting Inventory
The Starter Kit Mod gives players a configurable set of items the first time they join a world. Items can be placed into specific inventory slots, the offhand, or armor slots, so you control exactly where each item appears.
The mod tracks which players have never joined before. If a player already joined before the mod was installed, the kit is only applied when their inventory is completely empty and they first log in near the spawn point.
To build your kit, fill your own inventory with the items you want, then run /starterkit set. This copies your inventory into the config file and renames the old file as a backup. The command requires cheat access. You can also edit the config file directly at /config/starterkit/starterkit.txt; use the in-game command instead if you need NBT tag support. This works in singleplayer and on servers.
