Getting the Softest Look with Shaders

Pairing with Iris and BSL

SSL's Soft Textures works beautifully on its own, but combining it with shader mods elevates the visual experience. The pack's warm, softened textures pair naturally with lighting and shadow effects from external shader tools.

Setup Steps

1. Ensure SSL's Soft Textures is active in your resource pack list

2. Install Iris (a shader loader for Java Edition)

3. Download BSL shaders or another compatible shader pack

4. Load the shader through Iris's in-game menu

5. Launch your world—the soft textures will now receive enhanced lighting and depth

Fine-Tuning

Open your shader settings (usually accessible via a key binding) to adjust:

  • Shadow intensity
  • Bloom and glow effects
  • Color saturation

Start with default settings, then reduce shadow harshness if the combination feels too dark. The goal is complementary softness: the pack handles texture warmth while shaders add atmospheric depth. Test in different biomes and times of day to see how the combination responds to natural lighting changes.
