Improve Squid Behavior with Status Effects
Status Effects and Squid Physics
When squids are affected by Levitation or Slow Falling effects, vanilla Minecraft didn't properly reset their fall distance, causing unpredictable movement and potential damage.
How the Mod Fixes This
The mod ensures that:
- Levitation effect: Fall distance resets when applied, so squids move smoothly upward
- Slow Falling effect: The movement vector is properly added to squid physics, and fall distance resets
These changes make squid behavior consistent with other mobs when status effects are active.
Practical Applications
If you use commands or potions to apply effects to squids:
- They'll move naturally instead of glitching
- Fall damage calculations remain accurate
- Movement appears fluid and predictable
Testing It Out
Use a command to apply Levitation or Slow Falling to a squid and observe smooth, controlled movement. Without the mod, squids would behave erratically or take unexpected damage. With it installed, they respond to effects like other mobs do.
