Locating the Configuration File

After your first server start with Squaremap installed, a configuration file is automatically generated. Find it in your server directory — the exact location depends on your server type (Paper, Sponge, Forge, or Fabric).

Editing Key Settings

1. Open the Squaremap config file with a text editor

2. Look for the port setting — this controls which port the map is served on (default is 8080)

3. Adjust other options like render quality, update frequency, or which dimensions to include

4. Save the file

Applying Your Changes

1. Stop your server completely using /stop or shutting down the process

2. Start the server again

3. Check the console/logs during startup to confirm no errors occurred

Important: A simple reload command may not apply all configuration changes. Always perform a full stop and start for safety.

Once restarted, visit your map URL again to see the updated settings in effect.
