Install and Run Your First Sponge Plugin

Prepare Your Server

Before installing plugins, ensure you're running either Sponge Vanilla (for vanilla servers) or SpongeForge (if you're using Forge mods). Download the appropriate version for your Minecraft version from the official Sponge website.

Install a Plugin

1. Locate your server's mods folder (for SpongeForge) or plugins folder (for Sponge Vanilla)

2. Download a plugin JAR file from the Sponge community repositories

3. Place the JAR file into the appropriate folder

4. Restart your server

Verify Installation

Once the server starts, check the console logs for confirmation messages. Most plugins will announce themselves during startup. You can also use in-game commands (typically /plugins or /sponge plugins) to list all active plugins.

If a plugin doesn't load, check that:

• The JAR file is in the correct folder
• Your Sponge version is compatible with the plugin
• The server has sufficient permissions and memory allocated
