Set Up Whitelist and Custom Messages

Enable the Whitelist

In your server.properties file, set white-list=true. This restricts access to only approved players. Add player names to the whitelist.json file in your server directory, or use the /whitelist add [player] command in-game.

Customize Whitelist Messages

Spigot lets you configure what message players see when denied access. In spigot.yml, find the messages section and locate the whitelist rejection message. Edit it to something friendly or informative about your server rules.

Configure Other Server Messages

Customize additional messages in the same messages section, including permission denial responses and other console outputs. This helps maintain your server's personality and provides clearer feedback to players.

Apply and Test

Save your changes and restart the server. Try joining with an unlisted account to verify the custom message appears. Use /whitelist reload to refresh the list without restarting if you've manually edited whitelist.json.

Manage Access

Use /whitelist add and /whitelist remove to manage players dynamically. Check /whitelist list to see all whitelisted players.
