How to Fix a Spell That Will Not Cast
Check the Cost First
Most failed casts are a resource problem. Spell Engine spells can cost hunger (exhaust), items such as runes, durability from the casting weapon, or a cooldown. Go through them in order:
- Are you hungry enough? Exhaust-based spells will not fire on an empty stomach.
- Do you have the required runes or reagents in your inventory?
- Is the weapon's durability too low to pay the durability cost?
- Is the spell still on cooldown?
Check the Cast Mode
If the spell is charged, you must hold the use button until the cast bar fills, then release. Tapping too early cancels it. If it is channeled, keep holding; releasing stops the spell. Make sure you are not accidentally releasing early.
Check Targeting and Line of Sight
Projectile and beam spells need a clear path. If a block or entity is in the way, or you are aiming at nothing valid for a cursor spell, the cast may fail or do nothing. Step into the open and re-aim.
Check the Item
Confirm the item in your hand is actually a spell-casting weapon from a content mod. A plain vanilla item will not cast anything, no matter what you press.
