Speed Building Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I start placing ladders or rails with this mod?
Look in the direction you want the ladder or rail to extend, then place the block as you normally would. The mod takes over from there and continues placing the ladder or rail away from you in that direction.
Does it work with both ladders and rails?
Yes, the mod supports both ladders and rails. The placement behavior is the same for each: you place the first one and the rest extend outward automatically.
How far will the ladder or rail extend once I place it?
The mod keeps placing blocks in the direction you're facing until it can't place any more, such as when it hits an obstruction or runs out of valid space. It doesn't require you to walk along the track.
Why does my rail line stop partway through?
The extension usually stops because something is blocking the path, the ground isn't valid for the next rail, or you've run out of the item in your inventory. Clear the obstruction or restock and try again.
My ladder went the wrong direction. What did I do wrong?
The mod extends in the direction you're facing when you place the first block, so check your aim before placing. Turning or looking slightly off can send the ladder or rail in an unexpected direction.
Can I use this mod to climb a tower with ladders?
Yes. Face upward along the wall where you want the ladder and place the first one; the mod will continue stacking ladders upward so you can climb without placing each one by hand.
Why are there gaps in my rails or ladders?
Gaps typically appear where the terrain isn't valid for placement, such as uneven ground or missing support blocks. Level the surface or fill in the gaps manually, then continue building.
Does it consume items from my inventory as it places blocks?
Yes, each ladder or rail placed by the mod comes from your inventory, just like manual placement. If you run out, the extension stops until you get more.
Is this mod compatible with other building or rail mods?
It generally works alongside mods that add new rail or ladder types, since it extends whatever block you place. Conflicts are most likely with mods that heavily change placement behavior, so test in a copy of your world first.
Will this mod hurt my game's performance on big builds?
Performance impact is usually minimal because placement happens in short bursts rather than continuously. Very long extensions in one go may cause a brief lag spike, so building in segments can help on lower-end machines.
