Why Sparse Structures Isn't Changing My World (And How to Fix It)
Understand when the config applies
Sparse Structures only affects structure placement during world generation. If you edited sparsestructures.json5 and loaded an existing save, the chunks you already explored will keep their original structure layout. Nothing will visibly change no matter what value you set. The mod also does not touch ore generation, terrain shape, or tree placement, so do not expect those to shift either.
Steps to make the change take effect
First, confirm you edited the correct file in the config folder and saved it. Second, make sure the game was fully closed when you edited it, then relaunch so the mod reads the new value. Third, generate a fresh world — this is the only reliable way to see the new spacing. If you want to keep your old world, you can still explore brand-new chunks far from your base; those will generate using the updated spreadFactor.
If structures still seem unchanged in a new world, double-check that no other mod is overriding structure spacing, and verify the JSON5 syntax is valid (a stray comma or missing bracket can make the mod fall back to defaults). Fix any syntax error, relaunch, and generate another test world.
