Balancing Structure Density in a Large Modpack with Sparse Structures

Why modpacks need tuning

Big modpacks add many new structures, and with default spacing they can overlap or crowd each other, making the world feel cluttered and easy. Sparse Structures lets you spread them out so exploration stays meaningful. Because the mod multiplies spacing and separation for all structures at once, one setting rebalances the whole pack.

Pick a value for your pack

Start by generating a test world with the default spreadFactor of 2 and note how often you run into structures. If they still feel too common, increase the factor gradually — each increase pushes everything farther apart. If the pack feels empty and you rarely find anything, lower it toward 1. Because the effect is global, you cannot tune individual structures; you are adjusting the overall density.

Remember the mod ignores ores and trees, so your resource gathering and forests stay normal — only structures move. Test in a fresh world each time you change the value, since existing chunks keep their old layout. Once the density feels right for your pack, keep that spreadFactor and start your real world. This gives you a consistent, well-paced exploration experience across every mod's structures.
