How to Fix Biome Names Not Showing on Your Minimap
Why Biome Names Break
Many minimap and world-map mods read biome names directly from the biome registry. Stardust Labs' datapacks (like
Incendium) add custom biomes that vanilla clients don't have translation keys for, so your minimap shows a raw ID string, a blank label, or "Unknown Biome" instead of a readable name. Sparkles ships the missing language entries so those biomes resolve to proper display names.
Getting Names to Appear
1. Make sure Sparkles is enabled in your resource pack list and sits above any other packs that also touch language files, so its entries aren't overwritten.
2. Fully restart the game after enabling it — language files are loaded at startup, not on world load, so a simple resource reload may not be enough.
3. Enter the world and open your minimap. Hover over or stand in a custom biome and check the label.
4. If names still don't show, check your minimap mod's own settings for a "biome display" or "show biome name" toggle — some mods hide the label by default.
5. If a specific biome is still blank, it may be from a datapack version newer than your pack copy. Update the pack so its language entries match the datapack you're running.
Once working, biome labels update live as you cross biome borders, which makes exploring
Incendium's terrain much easier to navigate.
