Leather is now your primary source for crafting books and armor without harming animals. Instead of hunting cows, you'll defeat zombies.

Where to Find Zombies

Zombies spawn naturally in dark areas at night, in caves, and in the Nether. Build a simple dark chamber or visit caves after sunset to find them easily. You can also create a mob farm that specifically targets zombies.

Collecting Leather

When you defeat a zombie, it will drop leather as loot. Collect these drops and store them in your inventory or chests. The more zombies you defeat, the more leather you accumulate. This leather works identically to vanilla leather for all crafting recipes.

Using Your Leather

Use collected leather to craft books (combine with paper), leather armor, and other leather-based items. This approach lets you progress through the game without ever needing to kill cows, making your survival experience fully animal-friendly while maintaining access to essential materials.
