Using Snowballs for Crowd Control and Escapes

Why Freeze Instead of Fight

Because a frozen mob cannot move or attack, a single snowball can buy you time to escape, heal, or reposition. This is especially useful when you are low on health or outnumbered.

Practical Uses

  • Escaping creepers: Hit a creeper with a snowball to freeze it, then walk away before it can explode near you.
  • Stopping skeletons: Freeze a skeleton mid-aim so it cannot shoot while you close the distance.
  • Handling groups: Throw snowballs at multiple mobs to lock several in place at once.
  • Protecting builds: Freeze mobs that wander toward your base or farm.

Combining with Combat

Freeze a mob, then switch to a sword or axe and land hits while it cannot retaliate. For ranged builds, freeze then shoot with a bow or crossbow. The freeze duration is controlled by the config, so tune it to match your playstyle — short freezes for quick interrupts, longer ones for safe takedowns.

Inventory Tip

Snowballs stack, so dedicate one hotbar slot to them. In snowy biomes you can farm snow easily with a shovel and snow layers, giving you a near-endless supply of crowd-control ammo.
