Troubleshooting: Snowballs Not Freezing Mobs
Check the Basics
If snowballs are not freezing mobs, work through these steps before assuming the mod is broken.
1. Confirm the mod is actually loaded — check your mods list in-game.
2. Make sure you are hitting the mob directly with the snowball, not missing.
3. Verify the config value freezeTimeMs is not set to 0, which disables the effect.
4. Restart the game after editing the config so changes take effect.
Config Issues
If you edited the config and nothing changed, the file may not have saved correctly, or the game may have overwritten it on exit. Close the game fully before editing, save the file, then relaunch. If the value looks correct but the freeze is too short to notice, increase it — remember the value is in milliseconds, so a small number equals a very brief freeze.
Mod Conflicts
Other mods that alter snowballs, mob behavior, or damage handling can interfere. If snowballs work in a fresh setup but not in your main instance, test with only this mod enabled to isolate the conflict.
When It Still Fails
Double-check you are throwing the snowball rather than just holding it. The effect triggers on hit, so a missed throw does nothing. If problems persist, review the config once more and confirm the mod version matches your game version.
