Snowballs Freeze Mobs Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I freeze a mob with a snowball?
Just throw a snowball at any mob like you normally would. On hit, the mob freezes in place for the configured duration instead of taking only knockback.
Does the mod work on all mobs or only hostile ones?
It applies to mobs in general, so both hostile and passive mobs can be frozen. Test on the specific mob you care about, since some entities may behave differently.
How long does a mob stay frozen by default?
By default the freeze lasts 5000 ms, which is about five seconds. You can change this in the config if you want shorter or longer freezes.
Where do I change the freeze duration?
Open the mod's config file and edit the freezeTimeMs value. The value is in milliseconds, so multiply seconds by 1000 to get the number you need.
What are the minimum and maximum freeze times I can set?
The config allows a minimum of 0 and a maximum of 3600000 ms. Setting it to 0 effectively disables the freeze effect.
Can I freeze a mob forever?
No, the maximum configurable freeze time is 3600000 ms, which is one hour. There is no permanent freeze option.
Do frozen mobs still damage me or move?
A frozen mob is held in place and cannot move or attack while the freeze is active. Once the timer runs out, it returns to normal behavior.
Can I use snowballs to escape from mobs?
Yes, hitting a chasing mob with a snowball freezes it briefly, giving you time to run away or reposition. This works well for crowd control against multiple mobs.
Why aren't my snowballs freezing mobs?
Check that the mod is actually loaded and that freezeTimeMs is not set to 0. Also make sure you are hitting the mob directly, since a missed throw does nothing.
Does this mod work in multiplayer or with other mods?
It works on servers as long as the mod is installed on the server side, and it generally plays fine with other mods. If another mod changes snowball behavior, test them together to confirm.
