How to Make Snow Under Trees Work With Other Worldgen Mods

Why compatibility matters

Snow Under Trees hooks into chunk generation. Mods that add custom trees, custom biomes, or rewrite terrain generation can conflict with it, either preventing snow from appearing or causing it to appear in the wrong places.

Order of operations

1. Load Snow Under Trees alongside your worldgen mods and generate a test world.

2. Visit a snowy biome added by another mod. Look under its custom trees.

3. If snow is missing, check whether the custom tree's leaves use a non-standard block. The mod may only recognise vanilla leaf blocks.

4. If snow appears in biomes that should be warm, revisit your temperature threshold (see the warm-biome guide).

Working around custom trees

If a mod's trees use custom leaf blocks that Snow Under Trees does not detect, you have two options: check whether the mod or Snow Under Trees offers a tag or list you can add the leaf block to, or manually place snow under those trees. Some modpacks ship a compatibility patch that handles this for you.

Testing checklist

  • Vanilla snowy biome: snow under trees?
  • Modded snowy biome: snow under trees?
  • Warm biome: no snow?
  • Custom tree leaves: snow present?

Run through this list after adding any new worldgen mod to catch conflicts early.
