How to Configure Snow Under Trees for Your World
Finding the config
Snow Under Trees ships with a config file that controls how aggressively it applies snow. Depending on your loader, it lives in the config folder of your instance (Forge/NeoForge) or is exposed through a mod menu (Fabric). Open it with a text editor while the game is closed.
What the options control
- Biome temperature threshold – determines how cold a biome must be before snow is placed under trees. Lowering the threshold restricts the mod to genuinely frozen biomes; raising it lets snow appear in cooler-but-not-frozen biomes.
- Snow layer height – some versions let you choose whether a single layer or a fuller snow block is placed. A single layer matches vanilla snowfall; fuller snow looks heavier.
- Leaves handling – whether snow is placed only under leaf blocks or also under logs and adjacent ground.
Applying changes
1. Edit the values you want.
2. Save the file.
3. Restart the game (a world reload is not enough for config changes on most loaders).
4. Generate a fresh chunk in a cold biome to confirm the new behaviour.
If you are unsure what a value does, change one option at a time and test in a new world so you can compare results.
