Snow Under Trees Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Why is there no snow under my trees?
Snow Under Trees only places snow when new chunks generate, so trees in chunks you already explored before installing the mod won't be affected. You need to load fresh, unexplored terrain for the snow to appear.
How do I get snow under trees in my existing world?
Because the mod works at world generation, existing chunks won't retroactively get snow. Travel to new, ungenerated chunks, or use a chunk regeneration tool to force the affected areas to generate again.
Does this mod add snow under trees in every biome?
It's designed for cold and snowy biomes, but depending on your config it can also affect warm biomes where snow shouldn't normally appear. Check your config if you're seeing snow in unexpected places.
How do I stop snow from appearing under trees in warm biomes?
Open the mod's config file and adjust the biome or temperature settings so only cold biomes are affected. This prevents snow from generating under trees in jungles, plains, and other warm areas.
Does Snow Under Trees work with other worldgen mods?
It generally works alongside other worldgen mods, but conflicts can happen if another mod also modifies tree or snow placement. If you see missing or doubled snow, check the load order and each mod's config.
Will this mod affect performance or cause lag?
The mod only runs during chunk generation, so its impact is minimal during normal play. You may notice a slight slowdown while generating large amounts of new terrain at once.
Can I change how much snow appears under trees?
Yes, the config lets you control the snow behavior, such as which biomes are affected and how the snow is placed. Adjust these options to match the look you want for your world.
Does the snow under trees melt or stay permanently?
The placed snow behaves like normal snow blocks, so it follows the same melting and light rules as vanilla snow. In warm light or biomes it can melt just like any other snow.
Do I need to install this on both client and server?
For multiplayer, the mod needs to be installed on the server so the snow generates correctly for everyone. Clients connecting to the server should also have it installed to see the snow properly.
Why does snow appear under some trees but not others?
Snow only generates under trees in chunks created after the mod was active, and only in biomes allowed by your config. Trees in old chunks or excluded biomes won't get snow underneath them.
