How to Make Item Movement Animations Smoother in Smooth Swapping
If your items are stuttering or snapping instead of gliding between slots, the animation is being cut short by your frame rate or by the mod's own timing settings. Here is how to get the buttery motion the mod is known for.
Check Your Frame Rate First
The mod ties its animation to rendered frames, so anything below roughly 30 FPS looks choppy. Lower your render distance, disable fancy graphics, or reduce particles until you are comfortably above that threshold. If you play on a laptop, plug in and set the power profile to performance.
Tune the Animation Timing
Open the mod's config file (usually found in your config folder) and look for the animation duration or speed option. A longer duration makes the travel more visible and smooth; a shorter one feels snappier but can look jerky on weaker machines. Adjust in small steps and test by shift-clicking a stack in a chest.
Reduce Competing Animations
Other mods that also animate inventory slots can fight with Smooth Swapping. If you run a large modpack, try disabling inventory-animation features in other mods one at a time to see which combination looks best. Once dialed in, the motion should feel consistent whether you shift-click, use hotbar swap keys, or drag items manually.
