Configuring Smooth Swapping: Duration, Curves, and Per-Screen Options

Smooth Swapping exposes a handful of settings that control how the travel looks. Exact option names vary between versions, so read the comments in the config file rather than assuming a label.

Where the Config Lives

After first launch, the mod writes a config file into your instance's config folder. Open it with a plain text editor. Changes usually apply after a game restart, though some versions reload on world rejoin.

What You Can Typically Adjust

  • Animation duration: how long an item takes to travel between slots. Longer equals smoother but slower-feeling.
  • Easing or curve type: whether the item accelerates, decelerates, or moves linearly. A gentle ease-in-out tends to look most natural.
  • Gap or spacing between moves: useful when many items move at once, so they do not overlap into a blur.
  • Per-container toggles: some builds let you disable the effect for specific screens such as the creative inventory or the crafting table.

Testing Your Changes

Make one change at a time and test with a repeatable action — shift-clicking a full stack into a chest is ideal. If a value makes items clip through the GUI or vanish mid-flight, revert it. Keep a backup copy of the config before editing so you can restore defaults quickly.
