Smooth Chunk Save Mod Guide
How Smooth Chunk Saving Works
Smooth Chunk Save Mod spreads chunk saving across time instead of writing many chunks at once. In vanilla, saving a batch of chunks can consume a noticeable share of a server tick, which shows up as a lagspike. This mod saves chunks gradually, so the work is distributed and the tick stays stable.
The description reports that a vanilla server with three players spent roughly 11% of the tick on chunk saving, while smooth chunk saving brought that down to about 0.3%. Depending on your setup, that can free up to around 10% more server-side performance, with no listed downsides.
This applies to single-player worlds too, since they run an integrated server. The mod is only required on the server side, whether integrated or dedicated, so clients do not need it installed.
Configuration
Two options are available. You can set the time interval after which a chunk is saved, controlling how gradually saving is spread. You can also disable the global saving of all chunks every five minutes.
