Diagnose Why Bow Animations Aren't Smooth

Common Issues and Solutions

Check Your Installation

1. Verify the pack is active — Open your resource pack menu and confirm the Smooth Bow Animations pack appears in the active list (right side), not the available list.

2. Test in first-person — Hold a bow and draw it. You should see six distinct animation stages as the string pulls back. If you only see three jumpy stages, the pack isn't loaded.

3. Reload resources — Press F3 + T (or your equivalent) to reload all resource packs without restarting the game.

Troubleshooting Steps

  • Check file location — Ensure the pack file is in your resourcepacks folder, not nested inside another folder.
  • Verify compatibility — Confirm your Minecraft version matches the pack's requirements.
  • Disable conflicting packs — If you have multiple animation packs, only one can control bow frames. Disable others and keep this one active.
  • Clear cache — Delete your shader cache or resource cache folder if animations still appear choppy.

Testing

After each step, draw your bow again and count the animation frames. You should progress from three to six frames once the pack is correctly installed.
